How to sign in

After you register with eBay, you can sign in with either your username or the email address associated with your account, and your password.

When you'll need to sign in

To protect your identity and privacy, we ask you to sign in periodically. For example, we ask you to sign in when you:

• Request a change to your user information such as email address, username, payment methods, or credit card information.  

• Have a buyer account and want to add a seller account.  

• Start listing an item using a different browser session, even if you've selected the Stay signed in option. However, if you use the same browser session to sign in and to list an item, we won't ask you to sign in again unless you've closed your browser at any time after you signed in.  

• Clear cookies from your browser, or if your cookies become corrupted.  

• Post to the Community Discussion Boards or eBay Groups.

As an extra security check, we may occasionally ask you to enter a verification code when you sign in.

If you forget your username or password

If you forget your username, you can sign in with your registered email address, or we'll send an email with your username.

If you forget your password, you can click Sign in with a single use code or reset your password. Your old password will remain active until you create a new one.
